Just 100 metres from the lodge gate, the Uganda wildlife Authority information center contains some excellent exhibits describing the national park and the great  Rift valley and surroundings.

The tembo Bar

The tembo Bar has panoramic view overlooking the kazinga channel and Lake Edward .Enjoy the shimmering sunset over the lake   ,whilst drinking a wonderful sundowner .The bar verandahs are a perfect place to relax after a day out in the national park . The décor and furniture represents a bygone era of early explorers  .

As to stay within the law impact concept  ,we have chosen for a large dinning tent for our restaurant . The tent is set so to overlook the kazinga channel and to have the Rwenzori mountain range as a backdrop while enjoying our excellent food. In the evenings   though,when weather allows.we take your table outside and organize a starlit dinner . paraffin   lights and a camp fire create a cozy setting from where your 4 course dinner will be served . Due to logistic reasons (quality products are difficult to get in the area and must come from kampala ) we work with set menus ,but if you inform us in time .it will be our pleasure to cater to your request and dietary  requirements .

Early wake up calls with coffee ot tea,packed breakfasts or lunches can all be organized according to your planning of the day.


Tent non self contained

Queen Elizabeth bush lodge offers a budget friendly accommodation in the form of 10 non self contained tents. These are furnished with comfortable beds, a bedside table and a power outlet for charging your electrical equipment . All tents are placed under a grass thatched roof which creates your private terrace and provides some welcome shade . the tents share a communal ablution block with showers and flushing toilets .no need to worry  about linen as all bedding and towels are provided.

Tent self contained

For those who want to have some privacy and a real bush experience we now offer two two self contained tents a little distance away from our lodge , ideal for families as an extra tent can be placed on the adjacent platform. We recommend this accommodation for the adventurous and those who have their own transportation as walking to and from the main camp is not recommended during the night.


The lodge consists of 12 self contained units, spaciously placed between the indigenoeus bush. The rooms are built on a raised wooden platform and made from a fine combination of canvas and local materials . huge   mosquito netted allow a 180 degree view and ensures a close to nature experience . each room has a private terrace overlooking the seasonal kamera river . the rooms contain an eco toilet and an outside shower where two showerheads allow couples to take their starlit shower together.

  1. KASENYI SAFARI CAMP  (upmarket/luxury)

Kasenyi safari camp is strategically located on therim of lake bunyampaka in the kasenyi savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park .  the camp has an elevated dining structure that is meticulously thatched. The tents are on platforms with a thatched canopy roof.

There are four tents all with en-suite bathrooms  ,spacious  living areas and private decks . many animals frequent the camp during day and at night. Lion prides ,hippos, leopard ,buffalo  ,elephant ,waterbuck ,Uganda kob, and warthogs are frequently seen . the night comes alive  with sounds of hyenas howling and lions roaring.

Game viewing in the kasenyi savannah – the most visited park in Uganda hosts cats in the kasenyi savannah  . here the cats feed on the large numbers of Uganda kobs .some lions have learned to hunt buffallos and also climb trees.

  1. SIMBA SAFARI CAMP (budget)

Simba safari camp is a budget safari accommodation situated on the border of Queen Elizabeth National Park   only 2km from the Ugandan equator . it is the closest accommodation for game drives in the kasenyi plains and offers spectacular views of the surrounding crater lakes.

Samba safari camp features spacious guest rooms with en-suite facilities and a private veranda. Also dormitory rooms and a campsite with shared washing facilities are available. There is a restaurant with well stocked bar serving   a variety of meals and beverages.

Simba  safari camp features 8 twin rooms  .the rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished with two single beds and mosquito nets. En –suite is a bathroom with hot and cold running water and flushing toilet .part of the floor is covered with natural pebble stones   ,giving  your feet pleasant massage while taking a shower . each   room features its own veranda where you can relax or read a book while enjoying your privacy.

For those who are more on a budget  . simba safari camp  offers four mixed dormitory rooms, each with five or six double-deckers.All double-deckers are provided with a mosquito net. Adjacent to the dormitory rooms is a common shower and toilet block with hot and cold running   water. it features shared bathroom, bunk beds.


Katara lodge is situated on the Great Rift valley escarpment with uninterrupted views of the  savannah ,Lake Edward and the virunga and rwenzori mountain ranges beyond .

Katara lodge is located 16km from the katunguru gate of the queen Elizabeth National park, which is uganda’s  premier safari destination and one of the most biodiverse reserves in the world.

The park’s varied habitats   ,which include open savannah ,swamps, crater lakes ,the extensive maramagambo forest and the forested kyambura Gorge,are home to almost 100 mammal species and over 600 bird species.

Katara lodge is the ideal base from which to explore the park and the many activities it offers ,including game drives ,bird watching, the famous launch cruise along the kazinga channel ,chimpanzee tracking in the kyambura Gorge , and forest walks in kalinzu or maramagambo forests of which provide truly memorable wildlife experiences.

We are keenly aware of the delicate and precious nature of the park and the fauna we share it with. We therefore  pride ourselves on offering luxury safari experience while minimizing any impact to the environment .the materials used in the construction of the lodge were all gathered locally from renewable sources. We use extensive rain water harvesting   ,heat  all our water using solar heaters ,and use ultra low flush toilets throughout the lodge .

Similarly   ,all lighting and electrical outlets are solar powered and use low energy CF or LED bulbs .our salt water swimming pool further reduces our reliance on harmful chemicals.

The lodge offers accommodation in 8 luxurious thatched cottages on a beautiful stretch of hill soverlooking the open savannah in a serene and relaxing atmosphere   . Each spacious cottage was hand crafted using locally available materials and carved into the hillside by the katara village community.

We are located in kyambura overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park as we are along the rim of the western rift valley in Uganda.with a view over a rich animal kingdom you might spot elephants coming to enjoy the waterhole in view of the verandas of the cottages . At pumba safari cottages we offer you cozy accommodation   ,welcoming staff and stunning views.

Pumba safari lodge has been built using environmentally friendly local materials . All cottages are privately spaced out in a garden on the rift valley escarpment overlooking   Queen Elizabeth National park.

Accommodation is provided in three cozy self contained grass thatched spacious cottages as well as in a nicely set up  safari tent all with private showers . The cottages offer views of the park via the full length windows and are equipped with 220v electricity and a private wooden veranda perched over Elizabeth national park.

The onsite restaurant serves local and continental menus and buffet options . Guests can enjoy several course-meals prepared with ingredients from the area at the restaurant which boosts an elevated view. The bar also serves a range of drinks and beverages.

Located just outside of the park in the ishasha sector of the park the tented camp provides a choice for the more affordable option in the ishasha area of the park. It is also near some elephant trails and will provide you a quitwe wilderness experience in the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National park .  the camp is in alovely area near the park and you will certainly not feel like you are surrounded by the masses in this isolated area near the park

It is moderately priced and it overlooks the Ntungwe River ,there are different choices and the prices depend on whether you are at the edge of the river or up higher.  En-suite tents and solar hot water provide you comfort   ,delightful and a well  stocked bar for your comfort.

The tents each have a little porch where you can sit in comfort and enjoy the sunset or early morning with a cup of coffee  ,made from nearby Rwenzori mountains coffee beans .

The food served in the covered outdoor dining area was uniformly excellent .   you may visit the local community ,a traditional ,polygamous subsistence agriculture society.


Located at the northern end of Maramagambo Forest overlloking Lake Nyamusingire  , uganda’s largest volcanic crater lake,wood and thatch construction owned by Geolodges , 10 rooms with private veranda’s overlooking the lake tugged into the Maramagambo forest ….simply awesome location.

Ten independent luxury chalets,   and a family cottage that has two rooms that are joined together   ,each is curtained by the embrace of the dense foliage of maramagambo forest . All chalets assure guests of a peaceful and restorative stay with a unique theme of their own .  spacious  rooms and designed to please the eye and providing maximum comfort. The rooms have en-suite washrooms with continuous hot water for showers (heated by gas) tastefully furnished and have an enclosed veranda with large panoramic windows offering picture-perfect views of lake Nyamusingire allows you to enjoy a chilled sundowner or an early morning tea and coffee served by your personal waiter.

The bar and Restaurant are literally suspended over the lake with a stunning view as you have a drink  ,lunch or dinner at the lodge . you  can even watch the animals while you eat .  the food is superb and prepared to international standards . lovely   and kind service by an attentive staff and here you are overlooking the largest crater lake in Uganda . if you are in your room and need service you just ring a bell and a waiter will come and attend to your request.


Located in western Uganda, just outside the Queen Elizabeth national park at kichwamba escarpment with a strategic view of the park and yet it is the only moderately priced facility that is quality all around.  There is a swimming pool to cool you off after the long drive from kampala. You can eat or order an Italian style pizza from their wood fired oven .

The beautiful gardens ,the view ahead of you ,the African style bandas with western comfort and yet at a price that is affordable all of these things make this lodge a good option to stay while visiting Queen Elizabeth Park.the rooms are clean and spacious ,well furnished ,mosquito nets. It is obvious that a lot of thought and care has gone into this lodge that keeps it alive with African theme throughout the establishment.

The lodge is under German management who have done a good job in putting together this oasis on the equator providing a valuable and appreciated service to the tourist community.

All food is prepared to order and everything is made from scratch  ,so it normally takes about 40 minutes or so to get your food.place your order ,give them your room number and you will be informed when it is ready .you can eat from the restaurant or you can eat from your room it will still be brought for you.

The pools are awesome .there are two of them one is a children’s pool which is up about 3 meters deep connected by a water slide to a lower pool about a foot and a half deep.the kids love it and play on it.  The other pool is for adults approximately 5 feet deep .this overlooks the park the park and has a gorgeous view  .


This camp is a peaceful retreat spot for people seeking to enjoy the truly wilderness located some distance from mweya area of the park. It is home to the famous tree climbing lions located here at ishasha plains. Those who stay here simply rave about the location  ,the food ,the service and offcourse the abundance of wildlife that abounds in the ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park  like hippos, elephant herds all visit the Ntungwe river below you.

This small tented camp has brought many lasting memories to guests that have stayed here.  It is the closest thing to an authentic camping Experience –Luxury stylethe food will delight you,  there are many cool and refreshing choices and the staff will do its utmost to make you feel welcomed and cared for while you stay at ishasha wilderness camp.

There are 10 comfortable and nicely appointed tents that are self contained  . There are many activities you can partake in that are close . There will be no roaring engines ,just quite gurgling of the river, the sound of a hyena at night ,the reassuring and noisy banter of hippos, below you and the sounds of birds around you. Day of night –you realize that you are truly in the wild of Uganda   , except when it comes to eat –then its simply wow according to the former clients.

Each of the ten spacious framed canvas rooms, situated in the wooded are besides the river ,is comfortably furnished and with its own private en-suite bathroom and dressing area providing running water ,hot water  ‘bush’ showers and a flushing eco-friendly toilet.


Ishasha jungle lodge is located 2km off katokye Gate of Queen Elizabeth national park along River Ntungwe .  This is the perfect location for your photographic safaris in the ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth and a stopover on the way to bwindi National park .The lodge is surrounded by riparian forest vegetation and acacias savannah . Ishasha jungle lodge is a small eco-friendly lodge, entirely made with local materials and African Art , with its raised en-suite wooden deck cottages (now they are 4) spacious rooms and bathrooms ,all furnished with canvas

The restaurant offers international standard menu and dining area . This eco-lodge ishasha jungle lodge uses clean energy and power.solar systems give 24 hour power and hot water to all cottages.  All bulbs are of low energy consumption  .  solar fridges provide safe storage and cold drinks ,cooking is provided with clean sources like gas and alternative charcoal . A ttention is given to waste management disposal and recycling of any materials .water is safe as it comes from a borehole.

How to reach the lodge

It is located in kihihi sub-county of kanungu district, along kameme road  ,in kameme village ,2km off katokye gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park .

The lodge is accessible following the signposts along the ishasha road between katunguru and ishasha sector /kihihi town of the Queen Elizabeth national park. The lodge is located a few km away from kihihi Airstrip   ,where aer landing domestic flights from Entebbe airport

While at the lodge you can carry out some activities like wildgame viewing in ishasha sector for the tree climbing lions. You can undertake a village walk in the kameme village where you can view how the locals here tilt their crops.or you can visit a school  nearby .


Enjojo lodge is bordering the ishasha sector of queen Elizabeth park, situated on 40  hectares amidst acacia forest ,lush vegetation with palm trees and scattered grassland .  birdlife  is abundant and herds of elephants ,buffaloes and antelopes are highly spotted on our land ,vevet monkeys ,baboons and black and white colobus monkeys.

We offer comfortable accommodation to suit all budgets   , in the main lodge area we have three thatched cottages and one safari house  , allowing a total of 16 guests ,contributing to a quiet and intimate retreat.  The cottages are interlinked with an elevated wooden walkway  ,and each room has an en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower with hot and cold water.  On the wide verandas   ,guests can relax and overlook the surrounding bush and savannah .

Enjojo safari house   can be booked by families ond private groupd of up to 7 guests  and has its own little outdoor kitchen.

From the grass thatched restaurant and bar ,guests can enjoy the homemade food and the scenic beauty of a small natural lake.   Set away from the main lodge area in the middle of the acacia forest we offer budget accommodation in an African bush setting of bamboo huts and canvas tents .we also provide toilet ,shower and cooking facilities for campers who come with their own tents.

The lodge is entirely constructed by local builders using local materials to blend in with the surrounding environment  .  most of the furniture and decoration have been hand crafted by the local community.
